Alexander Sevier, Hiker, Missing in Yosemite

Park rangers have sent out a missing person alert for 24-year-old Alexander Joseph Sevier, a young man possibly taking day hikes out of Yosemite Valley.

He was last seen in housekeeping camp on or around May 1st, according to park officials.

They describe Sevier as 5’6″, 128 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes and possibly wearing Aeropostale, Abercrombie or Hollister clothing.

Rangers are asking anyone in Yosemite Valley May 1st through 5th, who may have information, to contact the Yosemite National Park Dispatch at (209)379.1992.

The search continues.

Neighbors at Sevier’s camp told rangers that he would hike alone before returning each evening. The park says it has focused its search efforts – which include about 30 people, dogs and a helicopter – on popular hiking trails that originate in Yosemite Valley, such as the Upper Yosemite Fall Trail and the Mist Trail.
